
AIU ONLINE
The American InterContinental University is a worldwide online university that is most commonly known as AIU online. The school is accredited worldwide for giving Associates, Bachelors and Masters’ degrees in a wide variety of subjects.
History
AIU online was founded in 1970 in Switzerland (by Americans) and was first known as the American Fashion College of Switzerland. The school was first accredited to giving American Diplomas in 1971 and they soon opened a separate campus in Atlanta, Georgia and London, England. In 1996 Steve Bocs purchased the school and changed the name and soon after AIU received its first regional accreditation and not receiving worldwide accreditation until 2008.
Attendance/Graduation
AIU online enrolls thousands of students each year with the requirements of a GED, High school Diploma or equivalent for Certifications, Associates and Bachelors’ degrees as well as an admissions test with a 19% acceptance rate. Credits from other colleges are not accepted.
Courses
Students at AIU online are taught via advisors who use online messaging, online discussions, chat rooms, message boards and etc. Study material can either be found via an online library or through a physical one (or purchased as necessary) and audio lectures and lessons are often exchanged. Deadlines are usually one week after the student receives the material (unless otherwise arranged). Areas of study include business, business management, education, healthcare management, information technology and visual communication.
Enrolling
Enrolling at AIU online requires that you have the proper diploma or degree for the course you wish to study and that you pass the entry exam ($50 fee). Most enrollment and enrolling tests may be taken online, however they may also be taken in one of the five actual campuses owned by American Intercontinental University.
Financial aid is available for some students, AIU online offers financial aid including federal grants, federal and state aid, university and scholarship grants and possible tuition reimbursement.
